Yola centre walks to LG secretariat for advocacy

The Yola Study Centre of 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), has taken campaign for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education to Yola South Local Council of Adamawa State in continuation of its adopted road walk advocacy campaign.
The team, led by the centre director,聽Mrs. Tiling Yelyel, disclosed that they were at the secretariat to raise awareness and sensitise the leadership of the local government council on the various academic programmes and activities of the university.
Yelyel,聽who gave a brief history of NOUN, its vision, credibility and the advantages it has over conventional institutions, emphasised that the university remains the only institution capable of admitting thousands of students irrespective of age, location or gender as opposed聽to conventional ones with limited enrollment capacities.
She聽said with education, the local government鈥檚 staff鈥檚 operation and activities would be enhanced聽when enrolled in NOUN,聽adding that the university has become a catalyst of increasing human potentials in Nigeria through the operation of ODL.
The director,聽who聽reiterated the flexibility and affordability of NOUN as an ODL institution driven by technology-mediated learning process, described the advocacy visit as part of the efforts to increase students enrollment.

An Administrative Officer at the centre,聽Mr. Paul Okobi,聽who was assigned to explain the criteria for securing admission into the聽institution,聽emphasised the importance of education to any society.
Okobi sensitised about one hundred staff of the local government council on the NOUN courses, admission processes, mode of payment, registration,聽mode of instructional delivery聽and on-line facilitation,聽among others
The chairman of the Local Government,聽Prof. Abba Tahir,聽expressed profound appreciation for the awareness about NOUN and promised to advocate for the university to attract more enrollment to the centre.
The chairman, who has a great interest in education, pledged聽to open a study centre in his LGA as he expressed his readiness to donate land for the establishment of the study centre.
With an impressive attendance during the visit, some LG staff have indicated their interest to secure admission while others trooped in to ask questions and seek clarifications on the grey areas about NOUN.
