Prof. Uduma monitoring the ongoing e-examination at Uyo Centre
The Vice-Chancellor of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, has intensified monitoring of the 2026_1 semester examination marking exercise and Computer-Based Examinations across the university鈥檚 study centres.
During a working visit to Uyo Study Centre, Prof. Uduma received a briefing from the Deputy Director, Directorate of Examinations and Assessment, Dr. Nnenna Chukwuma.
The report showed Enugu Study Centre leading in marking performance, with Uyo closely behind, while other centres were working to improve pace.
The Vice-Chancellor promptly engaged senior academic managers for real-time updates and solutions. A key issue raised was the shortage of Nursing markers at Uyo, as many were involved in professional practical examinations.
Following Prof. Uduma鈥檚 intervention, additional Nursing markers reported for duty, boosting the centre鈥檚 capacity to clear over 5,000 Nursing scripts.
Uyo Centre is currently handling more than 72,000 examination scripts from South-South study centres. In response, the Vice-Chancellor approved additional marking time for faculties with high volumes: Management Sciences, Computing, Health Sciences, and Education. Faculties with lower loads, including Arts and Agricultural Sciences, were directed to conclude by Monday, June 8, 2026.
Prof. Uduma also inspected the CBE hall and noted inadequate lighting. Centre management cited high operational costs of running the main generator. The Vice-Chancellor assured staff of management鈥檚 commitment to resolving infrastructure challenges affecting teaching, learning, and assessment.
Staff commended the VC鈥檚 proactive, field-based supervision style, which they said inspires confidence and accelerates problem-solving.
Since assuming office, Prof. Uduma has maintained direct oversight at study centres to ensure policies translate into measurable outcomes. The Uyo visit reaffirms NOUN鈥檚 commitment to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
