The Vice-chancellor,聽水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN), Prof.聽Olufemi Peters, has visited Kano state to inspect facilities at Kano Study Centre, Fagge and Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centres.
The VC was accompanied during the inspection by his predecessor聽Prof.聽Abdalla Uba Adamu, the acting Chief Security Officer, Mal. Isah Shehu聽and the acting director, Directorate of Physical Development, Works and Services, Arch聽Haruna聽Suleiman,聽among others.
Fagge Community Study Centre was the first point of engagement by the Vice-Chancellor, where the VC and his entourage were聽received by the Director聽of聽Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centre Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu,聽who oversees聽the centre, as well as the centre representative, Mr. Ameer Salisu Hamza.
Shortly after his arrival, the VC聽inspected the centre’s facilities, which, he said, he was impressed, after which, he聽was presented with a letter stating some of the challenges being faced by the centre.
The centre, based on the letter, is lacking in聽computer desktop, connection with聽the national grid and a utility vehicle for official use.
In his response, the VC assured that the centre shall receive聽his blessings as all challenges confronting the it聽were noted, acknowledging that they聽are all crucial for the day-to-day running of the centre.
At the Kano Study Centre, the acting director of the centre, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq,聽explained to the VC that the rigorous advocacy campaign of the centre made it possible for its present status in relation to students enrollment.
He maintained that the Kano Study Centre makes聽effective utilisation of the heavy presence of media houses in the state, as聽it has as one of its聽modalities the rapid response of queries as they were received.
Responding, the VC聽stated that he was impressed by the way and manner the centre is administratively being managed聽under the leadership of its acting director and his lieutenants.
Peters later was accompanied round the centre to inspect the facilities, the North-west Incubation Centre of the university, and some of the ongoing projects at the centre.
The Vice-Chancellor also met with two disabled students of the centre and had a brief chat with them.
The students, one an undergraduate and the other a masters student, made a plea to the Vice-Chancellor for the provision of certain instructional materials that will aid their learning at the university.
The train later moved to Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centre at Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State,聽where similar engagements and activities聽were carried out by the Vice-Chancellor.
He聽showed his appreciation by the structures聽on ground and the way the work was executed.
To wrap up聽the day-long activities, the VC assured to sit with the contractors handling the project so as to iron out modalities in order聽to ensure a speedy completion of the remaining聽part of the project for the centre鈥檚聽full-pledged聽take聽off.
