The newly-established Surulere聽Study聽Centre of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN),聽has聽played host to the Dean and Heads of Unit in the Faculty of Engineering,聽University of Lagos聽(Unilag).

The team, headed by the聽dean聽of the faculty, Prof. O.M.聽Sadiq, expressed聽appreciation towards the gesture demonstrated in accepting the invitation by the director of the聽centre,聽Prof. Yemisi Ogunlela,and her聽management staff.

Sadiq said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the director being the head of the Surulere聽centre facilitated by聽one of聽their alumni聽in聽the Faculty of Law, the Chief of聽Staff to the President, Rt.聽Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila and also to seek a聽possible聽partnership with the study centre.

The聽dean said聽his faculty is ready to be in support and offer assistance in the area of practical exercises carried out by the university.

He mentioned聽ten programmes聽of his聽faculty such as聽Chemical聽Engineering, Biomedical聽Engineering, and聽Computer聽Engineering,聽among others.

In her response, the director appreciated their visit and intimated them聽about聽the history of NOUN, the mode of operation, the number of study聽centres, courses offered and the mission and vision of聽the university.

Unilag deanOgunlela聽emphasised聽on e-learning process which the students of the university can access through online videos and facilitations.

“We reach our students through facilitation, we give a timetable for each course to log-in at the scheduled time and receive the programme,鈥漵he said.

On the flexible nature of NOUN, the director said聽鈥淚f a student misses an examination in the first semester, he can also attempt the exam in the second semester.”

She said NOUN has collaborations with universities as the institution engages聽the services of many聽professors outside聽it聽for the purposes of facilitation, course material development, questions settings, vetting exam questions, marking and project moderation.

The director聽also discussed the aspect of entrepreneurship聽studies, saying that NOUN has聽incubation聽centres聽across the geo-political zones of Nigeria聽and聽were established for students to display their talents and creativity.

Ogunlela聽later toured the visitors round staff offices, facilitation rooms,聽moot court聽rooms,聽laboratories,聽among others.

At the end of the visit, souvenirs and gifts were presented to the guests.
