CHRD in Kadpoly

The Rector, Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar,聽has聽said聽that his聽institution is ready to partner聽the Centre of Human Resource Development (CHRD) of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN)聽in聽the area of聽skills聽acquisition聽development.

He made this known when聽playing host to聽the management of the聽centre, led by its director, Dr. Aminu Umar, who called on the institution in Kaduna.

He said the polytechnic, known for its leading role in聽championing聽the course of skills聽acquisition聽development,聽has聽37聽assessors and two聽verifiers聽all聽trained by the聽institution.

The rector, however,聽lamented that the Kaduna Polytechnic has聽no external聽verifier.

He聽called聽explained that there聽was聽the聽need聽for the two parties聽to sit down and understand the terms and conditions before the Memorandum of聽Understanding聽could be聽signed.

While聽commending聽the university for its foresight, he聽promised to exploit the institution鈥檚聽available resources to the full extent.

Umar聽upheld that in the present economic context of the 21st聽Century, the issue of certificate has no weight compared to the聽skills for economic development.

On the other聽hand,聽the rector disclosed聽that聽the polytechnic had made an effective use of Panteka聽Market Association for the training and development of聽skills.

In聽the聽light of this, the聽her explained that there聽was need for the collaboration and development, even as he聽promised to reciprocate the visit.

Earlier in his speech, the聽Director NOUN聽CHRD,聽Dr. Aminu Umar,聽congratulated聽his host聽for聽what he described as a聽well deserved appointment.

Umar, who also聽extended the felicitation of the Vice-Chancellor,聽Prof.聽Olufemi Peters, added that聽like聽the polytechnic,聽NOUN聽has a robust representation, with聽mega聽study聽centre in the Kaduna City, a聽community聽study centre in Kagoro,聽a study聽centre for the inmate at Kaduna Medium and Custodial Centre, and聽a special聽study聽centre for the Nigerian Air Force situated聽at the聽NAF聽Base.

He聽said聽CHRD is the only聽centre outside the university headquarters聽and is聽tasked with聽the聽responsibility of providing Corporate Social聽Responsibility to聽the聽people.

The聽centre, according to him,聽also aims聽at empowering and certificating people who ordinarily do聽not聽have certificates but have skills.

He said CHRD聽has since partnered聽with聽the聽Kaduna State Government聽for artisans and skills development.

The director,聽therefore,聽appealed聽to partner the聽polytechnic to make use of聽its assessors and聽verifiers in order聽to improve the quality of the training聽and聽the economy.

鈥淭his will聽no doubt serve as an avenue and a panacea to harness the聽national potentials,鈥 he said.

He called聽for the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the two 聽institutions,聽praying聽to see聽to聽fruition聽鈥渢hese聽gigantic collaborative efforts.鈥

The meeting was also attended by some top聽officials聽of the聽polytechnic with聽direct bearing in dealing with skills training and development.

The director was accompanied by some top management staff of the聽centre drawn from聽manpower聽unit, DPDW&S聽and聽a聽host of others.
