
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor,聽Technology, Innovation, and Research聽(TIR),聽has聽undertaken series of聽monitoring聽exercises聽of the聽ongoing e-examination examination in the聽study聽centres within the Abuja metropolis.
Olaniyi,聽who started the monitoring on Tuesday May 24, 2022, visited the Abuja Model Study Centre and the National Union of Road and聽Transport Workers (NURTW) Centres,聽respectively.
The DVC聽and her team arrived at the centre聽as early as possible when students were about to start their session of the day鈥檚 examinations.
At the two centres,聽she was received by the聽directors of the聽two聽centres:聽Prof. Sam M. Ayodele and Mrs. Patience A. Adeniyi, who took her聽round the examination halls where聽the DVC聽interacted with some students聽and asked them聽about their聽e-exams experiences.
The DVC,聽while on the tour,聽also discussed the causes and failure of some of the exams IT equipment earlier experienced at the centres and also discussed with the support team on how to resolve and to prevent any future occurrences.
Olaniyi聽also used the opportunity and visited the conference marking centre at the聽Abuja聽Model聽Study Centre to observe the process and check if there was any issues with them.
Similarly,聽the DVC,聽on Wednesday聽May聽25, 2022, was at the聽Special聽Study聽Centre for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense,聽Sauka, where she arrived at about 7.30am and was received by the centre聽director,聽Prof. Laruba Doris Obieja, who took her round the centre.
After聽the聽supervision, she held a meeting with the centre聽director, where issues聽bordering on the centre were聽discussed and promised to take some of the issues to聽the university聽management for necessary action.
The DVC鈥檚 next port of call was聽the Special聽Study聽Centre for Immigration,聽Gwagwalada,聽where,聽on her arrival,聽was received by the most senior staff at the centre, who took her and her entourage聽round the examination聽halls.
She聽supervised and interacted with the ICT staff who also presented their technical needs to her, even聽she also promised that聽the聽management was going to look in聽to聽the issues.
As the DVC鈥檚 train moved to the聽Special聽Study聽Centre for the Nigerian Correctional Service, she was received by the Director, Mr. Adam IIemna Omale, and was conducted round the exam hall where she also interacted with some students and technical staff.
Afterwards,聽she commended the聽director and staff on their cleanliness and urged them to keep聽up聽the good work, as she聽particularly commended the ICT staff for their efforts at ensuring a clean and orderly server room.
Equally,聽at the Wuse II聽Study聽Centre, she was received by the director,聽Prof. Grace Chidiogo Okoli and was also taken round the different examination halls.
The DVC聽interacted with some of the students and also had a brief meeting with the technical staff of the centre to find out the immediate needs and how to provide solutions, after which,聽she commended them for the cleanliness of the premises and the examination halls.
In all the visits, the hallmark of the DCV鈥檚 interactions was the receipt of聽complaints聽related to聽the聽lack of technical resources hindering the smooth conducts of the examinations,聽where she promised to forward the complaints to聽the聽management for solutions.
She was accompanied on the visits聽by聽the staff in her office:聽Mr. Olatunji Folami (Principal Statistician) and Mr. Muttaka Turaki Gujungu (Senior Network Engineer).
