It was a great event at the Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as the outgoing Executive Council of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Ondo State Chapter,聽handed over the leadership of the association to the new Executive Council.

The聽director of Oka-Akoko聽Study Centre,水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN),聽Dr,聽Joseph Babajide Oyadeyi, who was聽the outgoing聽chairman聽of CASSON,聽in his handover speech, thanked聽God for seeing the outgoing executive through for five years.

Oyadeyi extolled聽his predecessor, Prof. Clement Daramola for laying the good foundation that his executive built upon and while recounting his administration鈥檚聽achievements, he said the outgoing executive recorded huge success as the association was taken to an enviable height.

He noted that among the achievements聽were聽the organisation of the first-ever state聽conference of the association in the chapter, floating of the official journal of the association, named聽“Ondo Journal of Counselling Psychology and Behavioural Studies.”

The director聽added that the exco was also able to produce the Bye-Laws for the state chapter.

Other achievements聽listed by the outgoing chairman聽include the resuscitation of聽non-effective聽zones, an effective membership drive that聽led聽to an increased number of members from all levels of education, the private sector, hospitals, clergy, etc.

Oyedeyi, therefore, highlighted some of the challenges of the association as inadequate funds, paucity of counsellors in schools and lack of聽office for the聽association,聽while聽thanking God for the wisdom to steer the affairs of the association.

He expressed appreciation to the Director of the Guidance and Counselling Unit,聽Ministry of Education,聽Science and Technology and the Ondo State government for their support and聽the聽CASSON members in the state for their loyalty and inestimable support.

While congratulating the new executives聽under the leadership of Prof. Taiwo Adenegan of the Achiever’s University, Owo, he promised to support the new leadership to surpass the achievements of the outgoing executive.

Responding, the new chairman thanked the outgoing聽chairman and his executive members for the feat the association聽has聽attained during their tenure.

He said he is poised to continue聽on the聽good job of the immediate-past leadership.

“I stand before you today with a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility as I accept the honour of serving as the new Ondo State Chairman of our esteemed Association, Ondo State CASSON,”聽Prof. Adenegan聽said.
