The Special Study Centre for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of the 水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN), has taken聽its聽advocacy campaign to Chief of Garki, HRH Alhaji Usman Nga-Kupi鈥檚 palace聽in Abuja.
The advocacy visit,聽according to the director,聽was aimed at informing the chief about the existence of the聽centre which is under his domain.
The team led to the palace by the Centre Director, Mrs. Patience Abimbola Adeniyi,聽explained to the聽chief the benefits Open and Distance Learning offers to聽any聽learner studying with the university.
She stated that聽鈥渁s an enlightened man鈥澛燼nd the聽centre being聽in his domain, the people聽of the area should聽to take advantage of the opportunity offered by NOUN to also be enlightened.
Adeniyi聽also encouraged them to make use of the flexibility mode of study the university offers while working聽and learn from the comfort of their homes with the use of technology,聽which does not restrict a person to a place and time.

The director further informed聽her host聽of the various programmes the university offers from degree to Ph.D. levels, explaining that the people can take advantages of such programmes to upgrade themselves.
In his response,聽Chief Nga-kupi聽expressed his delight for the location of the聽university in his domain and聽assuring聽that he will encourage his children and wards to enroll in the university.
He said as an educationist,聽a teacher for about 30聽years, he knows聽the value and importance attached to education, thereby placing him at the position needed to聽collaborate with the university for the benefit of his people.
While disclosing that聽he would be the mouthpiece of the university, the emir added that he will surely聽encourage his chiefs to take advantage of the opportunity,聽which,聽in the coming days,聽the聽centre聽will begin to notice the enrollment boom.
He said if not for time constraint he would have loved to enroll in one of the Ph.D. programmes聽with the university,聽urging the centre,聽however,聽to take the palace and everything around as one family.
