The accreditation team聽of聽the National Universities Commission聽(NUC)聽has聽visited the Kaduna Campus of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), where it carried out the exercise at Kaduna Study Centre as well as the the聽Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
The team was led by Prof.聽Shehu Ado Garki聽and was accompanied by聽Prof.聽Shehu聽Ahmad Maigandi from聽the聽Usmanu Danfodio University,聽Sokoto;聽Prof.聽Adeyemi L. Kinde from聽the聽Osun聽State聽University;聽Prof.聽Amuche,聽an Open and Distance Learning聽expert from聽the聽University of Abuja while Mr. A. Christopher聽was the embedded聽NUC representative.
They聽first聽held聽a brief meeting at the聽study聽centre聽which聽was聽followed by an聽inspection of聽facilities at the聽Faculty of聽Agricultural Sciences, which include the grapevine garden/orchard,聽livestock, grow-out fish pond and聽hatchery room, as well as聽goats pen.
Other facilities inspected were the staff offices in both the聽study聽centre and the聽faculty, NOUN Regional Library, Course聽Material聽section聽and other聽places.
Speaking after the exercise, the聽Director Kaduna Study Centre,聽Mr.聽Yusuf Abdullahi,聽described the聽exercise聽as a successful one as the聽university聽was fully prepared聽and ready for聽it.
He聽said聽all facilities and聽other needed materials聽that would ensure the聽smooth and successful exercise were available and in good shape.
Abdullahi聽added that the collective comments聽of the team聽on the library聽showed that it聽is up聽to standard, saying that聽he is optimistic that due to the level of preparedness at both the聽centre and聽the faculty the course will maintain its聽status of full accreditation.
On his part,聽the dean聽of the faculty,聽Prof.聽Ahmad Njidda,聽explained that accreditation is another academic exercise tailored in checkmating or balancing system periodically in every five years.
The dean聽said聽the courses聽have聽attained full accreditation status in 2018, expressing confidence聽that聽from the exit briefing the courses will still maintain status of full accreditation.
The Vice-Chancellor,聽Prof.聽Olufemi Peters, according to the dean,聽has done everything聽possible聽to secure the accreditation with higher status of full accreditation.
The programmes for accreditation were:聽Agricultural聽Science聽that is run by聽three聽departments with specialisation in Agriculture Animal Science, Agriculture聽Soil聽Science and Land Resource Management and Agric聽Extension and Rural Development.
