The Service Compact Unit聽(SERVICOM)聽of the 水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN) has joined in the celebration of the聽global聽Consumer聽Service聽Week聽with discussions amongst the participants that dwelt on ethical reception.

The event, which took place at the headquarters of the university in Abuja聽on Tuesday, October聽7,聽2025聽saw the SERVICOM Nodal Officer, Mrs.聽Foluke Adeniran聽explained that聽鈥渢his is the third quarter聽of the聽SERVICOM Committee聽Representatives聽Executive meeting.聽I am delighted and humbled to see everyone.鈥

She explained聽that聽ethical reception聽is a professional and moral approach to receiving and interacting with members of the public.

Foluke said聽ethical practices聽involve聽being accountable and professional with a positive attitude in聽one鈥檚聽appearance, having respect and empathy.

She expressed聽appreciation to聽the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters,聽for聽what she described as聽his unwavering support.

The Head, NOUN Information and Call Centre, Ms. Wosilatu Ainodion,聽stated that ethical reception is not only a guiding principle but also a major聽aspect聽of credibility, trust and institutional responsibility.

鈥淭his presentation explores how ethical reception shapes the conduct of NICC,聽security personnel and staff in general in their engagement with students, the general public and wider stakeholders.

鈥淓thical reception signifies a commitment to fairness, respect and professionalism throughout all engagements.

鈥淚t is anchored on the principle of integrity, confidentiality, impartiality. Any point of contact, either through NICC digital platforms be it E-ticketing, Email, Call聽Centre and face-to-face interaction.聽It is important that whatever opportunity that we have, we are able to demonstrate commitment to serving the needs of our stakeholders,鈥 she said.

Ainodion explained that emphasised on how the聽ethical reception to students should be with respect and fairness safeguarding their confidentiality and providing accurate information and ensuring impartial support.

鈥漀OUN,聽as a leading institution,聽we must avoid the consequences of poor ethical reception.聽We need to let students trust us and reduce conflict. Ethical reception assures students that they are supported,鈥 she added.

On her part,聽the Director of Staff Training and聽Development,聽Mrs. Eunice Riki, said that ethics is the聽 act of doing something in accordance with principles of conduct that are considered correct especially those of a giving profession or group.

鈥漌e are concerned聽about work ethics that can be described as a belief in a moral value of work.聽It is a commitment to performing or doing your duties well,鈥 Riki said.

She聽added聽that聽“we are here because of the students, without the students聽we have no jobs鈥欌.

鈥滱s SERVICOM聽Representatives your role is to calm things down and move things swiftly, bearing in mind the image of the university. NOUN聽 is a business, we need to take it seriously.鈥
