
As part of efforts to equip聽the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN)聽graduates with future skills for the dynamic and competitive job market,聽the聽university,聽with the support of the聽Commonwealth聽of Learning (COL),聽has designed an employability framework that will help produce graduates with聽such聽skills.
Consequently, a聽meeting,聽held on January聽17,聽2024聽at the NOUN headquarters, Abuja,聽was聽organised聽by the Directorate of Quality聽Assurance to provide a progress report and dissemination of the NOUN 鈥揅OL Employability Project, which聽was聽聽attended by聽deans,聽directors and academic staff.
The聽director, Prof. Juliet Inegbedion, who served as the聽Project聽Coordinator,聽while giving a brief history and overview of the project, said the purpose of the project was to build employability capacity for better graduate outcome.
She said the project was jointly handled by聽her聽directorate,聽on behalf of the university,聽and the Commonwealth of Learning.
To this effect,聽the director stated,聽a team was set up by the聽directorate to work on the project,聽with聽the team consisting聽of course writers, course editors, learning technologists聽and instructional designers.
Inegbedion also gave an overview of the roles members of the team played towards achieving and completing the project,聽noting聽that the main purpose of designing the employability strategy was to deploy and integrate it into the various students curriculum.
According to聽her,聽鈥渢he project started with developing the employability strategy.聽Thereafter,聽the 聽university community was sensitised on the project and persons were selected from each聽faculty, who had a meeting聽with聽the COL consultant to design the strategy.
She appreciated members of the team for their contributions聽towards the success of the project聽and聽thanked the course writers for contributing their industrial knowledge towards the project.
Ag. Director of the Directorate of Learning Content Management Systems,聽Dr.聽Bello lukeman,聽who聽served as the instructional designer on the project,聽delivered a presentation on聽the Roles of聽Instructional聽Designers in the聽Project:聽Benefits and聽Challenges.
A content developer in the university,聽Mr.聽Okechukwu Okafor, played the role of the learning technologist on the project and delivered the presentation on Integration of Interactive Learning Skills: The聽Pros and聽Cons.
