
In an effort to reposition the centre to an enviable state, the management of the聽Special聽Study聽Centre for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW),聽水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN),聽Garki,聽Abuja,聽have聽met with the management team of the union.
The NOUN team led by the Acting Director, Dr.. Paul Ifeanyi and the聽Coordinator for聽Special Study Centres, Mrs. Modupe Adesina, met with the NURTW officials in their office on聽Thursday,聽May聽2, 2024.
During聽the meeting, Adesina presented a聽 position paper from the university’s management, stipulating the areas and levels of involvement of the union in the provision of some amenities to the centre.
She said聽that hosts聽of the special聽study聽centres were expected to provide 100 percent of the physical infrastructure and amenities for聽the centres聽to stand firm and function well.
The coordinator reminded the officials that there was a聽Memorandum of聽Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties at the inception of the centre which outlined those provisions.
According to her, those provisions were not limited to only NURTW centre alone but to other special聽study聽centres聽of the university.
On their part, the Acting President of the union, Alhaji Issa Ore, after welcoming the NOUN team, promised to table the position paper before his executive committee for further discussion and deliberation.
He also聽agreed that there has聽been a good relationship between the聽union聽and the centre, and assured that his team will respond without delay,聽even as he聽promised to get back to them on all the areas discussed.
On his part, the聽centre聽director, while appreciating them for the provision of a Sienna Car at the inception of the centre in 2013, informed them that the vehicle has since gone too聽old and can hardly stand repairs.
As聽such,聽he appealed to them to equally consider the replacement of the worn-out vehicle.
