A 2-day mock accreditation exercise of the Faculties of Sciences and Health Science of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN),聽has taken place at the McCarthy Study Centre, Lagos, with聽BSc.聽Computer聽Science and BSc.聽Health Science聽courses聽as聽the聽central focal points.

The team聽that comprised of聽the Dean,聽Faculty of Science, Prof. Ajibola Saheed Oluwatoyin, H.O.D.聽Computer Science, Dr.聽Osang Francis, and聽the聽H.O.D Environmental Health Sciences,聽Dr.聽Oluremi Saliu, was accompanied by聽Mrs.聽Patience Ilodo聽of the Directorate of Academic Planning聽during the visit on Monday, September 5, 2022.

They visited the centre聽to test-run聽its聽preparedness as the聽university is expecting to聽host the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the upcoming accreditation exercise聽later聽this year.

Ajibola, who headed the team,聽stated that they were duly authorized to inspect structural facilities, learning materials, staff and students鈥櫬爎ecords, offices, and evidence of activities,聽among other things.

The academic team, accompanied by the聽centre鈥檚聽director, Prof.聽Rotimi Ogidan and staff members,聽toured the facility, and visited offices like聽the聽councillors’ office, ICT,聽library, store,聽administrative offices,聽lobby and other parts of the building.

According to Ogidan, the study centre is psychologically and physically prepared to receive the accreditation team.

“We’ve held series of staff meetings to identify the different needs that will enable us to scale through the NUC accreditation exercise without difficulty this time,” he said.

He further stated that from their聽own聽assessment and prompt response to resolving the challenges in the centre,聽they were certain that the centre is聽fully prepared to host the NUC accreditation team.

However, the academic team acknowledged that the study centre has limited resources needed for a successful accreditation exercise.

During the visit to the centre’s聽store, it was noticed that some of the materials were outdated.

One of the visiting team members聽observed that聽some of the materials have been reviewed,聽and聽recommended that the store officers聽should聽get the list of registrable courses and liaise with each officer in charge in the various faculties.

Another member聽observed that the building has聽no power connection and the two generators were bad.

”We could not power the system, especially the online library.聽Electrical cables were bad and the light is poor.聽Serious work needs to be done,” he stated.

The team commended the effort of the management but encouraged the institution to look into the issues聽that聽will be included in their report.
