
Minna centre
The Management of the Minna Study Centre of the 水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN),聽has taken its advocacy campaign to the Niger State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
The advocacy team was led to the command by the centre聽director, Dr. M. A. Gana and was accompanied by nine other聽staff from the聽study聽centre.
The aim of the visit,聽Gana said,聽was to sensitise the staff of聽FRSC聽on the programmes and聽mode of聽instructional聽delivery of the Open and Distance Learning聽system of NOUN as well as to encourage them to take advantage of the ODL聽programmes offered by the university.
The聽entourage聽was聽received at the office聽by聽the Sector Commandant,聽Mr. Kumar and other staff of the command.
The director informed them that the university is located in their locality and聽is聽a federal government institution established in 1983, but was suspended and later resuscitated in 2003 to offer Nigerians the opportunity to experience equitable access to education.
Gana聽took them through the entry qualifications and procedures which entail learning at聽one鈥檚聽own聽pace, using prepared self-learning聽course聽materials and聽electronic聽video聽materials via聽computers.
He explained that the ODL mode of learning is flexible, expanding education access that increases educational choice for Nigerians聽and globally.
In his response,聽Kumar said his聽commission has an existing cordial relationship with NOUN and noted that聽officers of the聽command will soon take advantage of the programmes as he will also like to pursue聽his PhD with NOUN.
Kumar,聽however,聽suggested that a larger advocacy forum is needed for people to be aware of the university and the beneficial programmes聽of the university.
At the end,聽staff of the command were also given time to ask questions and make their suggestions聽which聽were addressed by the centre director.
