
The聽Management of the Lagos Mainland聽Study聽Centre聽I聽has organised an in-house training and refresher programmes for its staff members聽as part of its activities towards bringing effectiveness and efficiency among聽members of聽staff.
The 1-day training programme,聽which took place at聽the聽Digital Bridge Institute (DBI),聽Oshodi,聽Lagos聽State, was coordinated by the聽centre聽director, Prof. Ofe Inua with the theme:聽“NOUN Operations and Staff Roles to Students.”
The聽director聽commended the聽staffers聽and revealed that the training was aimed at educating and enlightening the聽centre聽staff on self-orientation,聽online training and materials that could develop oneself.
She stressed that members of staff should take advantage of the training to learn,聽re-learn聽and also demonstrate the importance of updating knowledge and skills on recent developments聽in the university to boost performance and enhance productivity on the job.
The programme,聽which聽was facilitated by the heads of units聽of the centre,聽saw them taking turns to make presentations.
The student聽counsellor, Mrs.Charity Ebonwu, remarked on communication skills among staff to students, and also on the management of students with special needs,聽sensitising聽them聽on how to tackle depression and gain wellness.
The Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit headed by Mrs. Ngozi Obi, explained extensively聽on聽how to handle NOUN websites and their uses,聽while聽Mr. Lasisi Akintayo, the聽head of the聽bursary unit gave an insightful presentation on the roles of accountants in today’s economy.
The Principal Network Administrator, Mrs.聽Ifeyinwa Ekeh,聽facilitated on how to schedule meetings via聽zoom聽application, even as聽Mr. Henry Nwajei of the聽registry unit spoke on leave matters and聽absenteeism in the study聽centre.
Also present at the event was the deputy director, Mr.聽Athan Onyekoro,聽who advised聽staff聽to do their best for effective and efficient service delivery, as well as聽endeavor to avail themselves in answering questions posed by students.
There was also room for suggestions and contributions from聽the聽participants.
