
Dawakin Kudu centre with commissioner
The聽Kano State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba,聽has assured the management of聽the聽水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN) of the state government’s readiness to partner with the聽institution to boost education in the state and the country聽at聽general.
He stated this when the Director, Dawakin Kudu聽Community Study Centre of NOUN, Dr. Ali Ibrahim聽Alasan,聽who also oversees the affairs聽of聽Gabasawa, Kwachiri and Fagge Community Study Centres,聽paid him a courtesy visit in聽his office.
The commissioner聽explained that the university has聽a聽conducive learning atmosphere where people who are very busy can study from wherever they are and easily complete their studies online.
He said NOUN provides opportunity for different categories of people to work while studying,聽which is one of the aims and objectives of establishing the institution.
Earlier while briefing the聽commissioner,聽the study聽centre director, said聽the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between NOUN and the state government.
He said the university has other three centres in KANO聽metropolis which include Fagge, Kwachiri and the聽mega聽centre at Sauna, while聽thirteen at the聽outskirts of the聽metropolis, and having聽all their programmes and courses fully accredited.
Alasan added that NOUN is an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution that has the largest number of students in Nigeria, stressing that it is not a member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as the university do not go on strike.
The director further disclosed that a student could get admission with five聽0-level聽credits result聽provided there is a聽credit in English and Mathematics without JAMB聽examination.
During the visit, the director presented the commissioner with NOUN souvenir.
