
NDA visit
The Kaduna聽Study聽Centre鈥檚聽advocacy team聽has聽intensified聽its聽campaign with visits聽to Dalet Barracks,聽Command and Nigeria Defense Academy聽(NDA) Staff Secondary Schools.
The聽purposeful聽campaign聽visits were聽aimed at聽equipping the young and prospective students with聽the聽adequate information about the聽existence聽and opportunities聽of聽the 水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN).
The director聽of the centre,聽Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, said NOUN聽is聽a聽21st聽Century university, stressing that聽the days of face-to-face interaction between the course tutor and students are beginning to fade due to the information and communication technology means of education delivery system.
According to the director, NOUN is specifically designed for all kinds of people, as its聽academic activity is neither affected by strike nor pandemic.
Moreover, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination does not form part of the entry requirement into NOUN,聽rather five O-level credits聽which include mathematics and English Language, he said.
Abdullahi outlined the number of faculties and academic programmes of the university which,聽he said,聽are accredited by the National Universities聽Commission聽(NUC)聽like any other university in the country.
He, therefore,聽urged the staff and students of the聽three聽schools to use the ample opportunities聽brought to them by NOUN.
Both teachers and students聽of the schools聽raised questions聽which were duly entertained and treated substantially.
The Commandant of the Command Secondary School,聽Ribado Cantonment, Major A U. Abubakar,聽thanked the NOUN聽centre for giving聽the school a priority to market the university.
He stated that he聽had personally聽passed聽through the university as a postgraduate student and聽attested that聽NOUN is flexible with the use of technology.
Abubakar聽promised to encourage the staff and students to enroll into NOUN as it is the only alternative and cost effective means of acquiring university education.
Like the聽Command Secondary School,聽the principal of its聽next door neighbour,聽Nigerian Defese Academy Staff School, Kaduna聽represented by the Vice Principal,聽Mrs.聽H. Bawa appreciated聽the information and promised to capitalise on the opportunity.
On the other hand, the Principal,聽Dalet Barrack, Mr. Daniel Martin,聽who received the team,聽stated,聽in his remarks,聽that many people who are looking for such opportunities lack adequate knowledge of the university.
He promised to encourage students and staff of the school to enroll.
Martin聽further solicited for frequent sensitization and interaction so as to keep the members of the public about the university聽abreast.
