Kaduna centre’s visit to Zaria

The聽advocacy campaign of the Kaduna Study Centre聽has聽continued聽to gather momentum聽with latest visits to pioneer secondary schools聽of Al-Hudahuda and Barewa Colleges in Zaria City, Kaduna State.

The director聽of the centre, Yusuf Abdullahi,聽who tagged聽the campaign “catch them聽young,”聽said聽the visits聽to the聽two famous colleges were聽meant聽to ensure more enrollment is recorded.

The聽team was聽first聽received by the Principal of the Al-hudahuda聽College,聽Mal.聽Musa Usman and some of the management staff,聽after which the visiting聽director of Kaduna Study Centre聽informed his guest聽that he is an聽alumni of the聽college.

Abdullahi said he was glad to start in Zaria. 鈥淪o this deemed it necessary to campaign in my domain so as to salvage the teaming youths waiting for conventional universities for admission.鈥

The聽whole gamut of the campaign聽centred on the three driving forces of the university鈥 affordability,聽accessibility and聽flexibility.

The director explained聽that聽despite sharing some characteristics in the area of regulation, standard accreditation and certificate鈥檚聽global acceptability,聽NOUN differs because it operates聽all through, with聽neither聽strike nor聽unionism.

He聽briefly narrated the historical evolution of the 水果派 of Nigeria from 1983 to 2001 when it was聽resuscitated.

鈥淒ue to the low level of enrolment, and inadequate awareness about the existence of the聽university, several methods and channels of communication were deployed to reach out to potential students,聽amongst which is the campaign we are carrying聽now,鈥澛爏aid Abdullahi.

Responding,聽principal of the聽college thanked the聽university for the great gesture,聽assuring聽that he would continue to encourage the staff and students聽of the college聽to enroll.

Usman urged聽his colleagues聽to raise questions in the areas that they may need more explanations聽and clarifications.

In another related development, the team proceeded to Barewa聽College聽also in Zaria City, which is聽one of the prominent聽pioneer secondary schools in Nigeria for the same activity.

The team鈥檚 leader wasted no time in intimating his host of聽the purpose of establishing NOUN,聽and the mission聽to provide access聽to university education in the country.

While disclosing that the聽conventional universities聽lack the absolute capacity to absorb聽Nigerians聽yearning for university education, Abdullahi聽retreated that NOUN is the only university with the capacity to admit a large volume of students.

On his part, the聽principal聽of the聽college, Mal.聽Ismaila Musa, stated聽that many are lacking the existing facts about the university聽even as he聽lamented that聽the聽northern part of the country has been left behind for long.

The principal, therefore, expressed appreciation for the visit, adding that聽“My child has been wanting for聽three聽years to secure admission.聽I will be so glad to bring her to NOUN.

“Three set of students are still waiting for admission due to ASUU strike and pandemic, So NOUN is a very good opportunity to move ahead.”

At the end of the interactive discussion, questions聽mostly聽relating聽to postgraduate聽programmes,聽science courses requirements聽and聽NYSC聽eligibility聽were entertained and聽duly聽addressed聽by the visiting team.
