
The聽Director,聽Kaduna Study Centre,聽水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN),聽Mr.聽Yusuf Abdullahi, has said that orientation exercises for聽newly admitted students聽are intended to familiarise the聽freshmen聽with聽university鈥檚聽policies and practices.
The director represented by the Head of Administration of the聽centre, Hajiya Fati Yakubu,聽stated that orientation exercise is聽also designed to provide necessary information and guidelines that the students may require throughout聽their聽stay at the聽university.
Abdullahi,聽therefore, welcomed 聽the students to NOUN, on behalf聽of the Vice-Chancellor,聽Prof.聽Olufemi Peters, and congratulated聽them for being聽part of聽the聽NOUN family.
He聽urged them to abide by all the laid down rules and regulations to conduct themselves and be good ambassadors of the university.
The director聽further warned them to聽shun misconducts聽especially examination malpractice.
Speaking聽about聽the university, the director explained that it is a Federal Government institution,聽created to operate聽an open聽and聽distance learning mode with聽the motto:聽鈥渓earn聽at聽any place,聽at your on pace.鈥
With聽114 study聽centres聽across聽the states, local governments聽and some communities in the country,聽the university聽was vested聽with the responsibility of providing high quality and accessible education to every Nigerian, he explained.
The director urged them聽to聽always聽remember that the main purpose learning,聽which is to secure knowledge for self-upliftment and聽service to the聽nation,聽should be considered聽as聽a聽topmost聽priority.
Highlight of the orientation exercise was an interactive session with the students by various heads of聽units聽of the centre.
The registry, where聽general rules and regulations guiding students behaviour and conduct聽domicile,聽was discussed by Mrs.聽Abimbola Frank,聽while discussion on the聽financial issues,聽which聽centred聽on funding of聽e-wallet and other financial聽issues were presented by the聽Principal Accountant,聽Hajiya Amina Ismail.
Others were聽library, ICT,聽registration procedures, TMA, and how to access NOUN聽portal /website,聽store, procedure for collecting course materials and聽counselling聽on total credit units required for graduation and general counselling聽were explained聽by Mrs.聽Hassana Ibrahim, Mr. Ahmad Kumta, Mrs.聽Adijat Albadawee and the聽centre’s聽counsellor,聽respectively.
