A聽26聽year-old Peace and聽Conflict聽Resolution student of the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), Makurdi聽Study聽Centre, Benue State,Miss Miracle Kparevzua,聽has聽described how her enrolment into the university has turned around her story as she is now well on course of acquiring her university certificate.

Kparevzua,in a chat with聽the聽水果派 News聽correspondent,聽explained that she was born with a condition called cerebral palsy which made her to neither talk nor walk for the first seven years of her life.

鈥淭he condition delayed me and I could not go to school on time,鈥澛爏he said, while聽revealing聽the difficulties people born with her condition聽continue to聽face in the society.

In spite of the challenges she faced in her early years,聽Kparevzua聽made the choice to a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and defying societal expectation.

She narrated how despite her inability to develop in her early stage in life, her father never gave聽up on her by making sure she got the needed treatment to improve her condition.

Standing uprightAccording to her, in the quest of pursuing her education, she wrote聽the聽Joint Admission and聽Matriculation Board (JAMB)聽examination, but could only score 169 and, therefore, could not聽get admission聽to any university, until her breakthrough came the day someone told her father about NOUN.

“I want to help people with my condition that don鈥檛 have the opportunity that I had, that they should not give up on themselves, but that whatever they set their minds on they can accomplish it鈥漙Kparevzua said.

Her inability to聽hold the pen or mouse very well聽is one of her present challenges,聽as her hands shake most聽of the聽times,聽thereby affecting how she writes,as well as her inability to聽walk聽upright聽but can do some certain things on her own.

Regardless,聽the 100-level student聽聽desires to improve on her speech and hands while she continues聽with the treatment to enable her improve on both.

Asked about what聽she enjoy the most about her study with NOUN, the student mentioned聽the study materials聽as being 鈥渧ery simple to read and understand鈥澛爀ven as聽she聽appreciated聽the university environment as the staff聽have been聽very supportive to her plight.
