Gabasawa community centre

The Gabasawa Community Study Centre in Kano State, under the leadership of the centre’s overseer, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim, has intensified its advocacy campaign with visits to the Gabasawa Local Government secretariat and the General Hospital.

Ibrahim,who is the Director of Dawakin Kudu Study Centre, also oversees the affairs of Gabasawa, Fagge and Kwachiri Community Study Centres in in the state.

The overseer stated that  the centre needs to sustain the tempo of advocacy campaign  to ensure enrollment into the university is achieved.

The campaign team was received at the secretariat by the Deputy Chairman of the Council, Mr. Danladin Gezawa.

The team’s lead and overseer narrated the trends that led to the establishment of the ˮ���� of Nigeria and the purpose of setting up the university.

He discussed in details the three philosophies of affordability, accessibility and flexibility to which the university operates on.

The overseer, therefore, urged them to use the ample opportunities at their disposal and enroll into the university.

He characterised NOUN as a 21st Century university where information and communication technology is deployed in the day-to-day teaching and learning.

In his remarks, the Deputy Council Chair appreciated the visit and applauded NOUN for the great opportunity brought to Nigeria and Nigerians.

Gezawa added that he has learned a lot from the advocacy campaign visit and pledged to support the university as well as sponsor some of the indigenes of the local government to study at the university.

The campaign train later moved to the neighbouring Gezawa Local Government, where it visited the General Hospital and were welcomed by the secretary to the hospital, Mr. Kamal Ibrahim.

Speaking at the hospital, the overseer pointed out the availability of health programmes for the hospital workers to patronise.

Responding, Mr. Ibrahim appreciated the management of the centre for the privilege given to them.

“Without the visit, many of us wouldn’t have gained more insight on the existence and mode of operation of the NOUN,” the hospital’s secretary said.

He promised to encourage the staff of the hospital to enroll in order to uplift their certificates and gain further experience.
