The Management of the Ilorin聽Study Centre, 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), Kwara State,聽has embarked on a series of advocacy聽missions, which took them to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Road聽Safety聽Zonal 8 Headquarters (RSHE)聽all in the state.
The advocacy team led by the Ag.聽Director聽of the centre, Mrs. Esther Adeola Oyinloye,聽used the avenues to address the聽officers and聽men of the sector commands聽about the聽existing opportunities the university offers.
She informed them that the university is the only institution聽with the聽capacity to meet the yearnings for higher educational advancement of the people.
Oyinlola聽disclosed that the university is the response of the federal government to the educational needs of her citizens, stressing聽that聽the limitations of the conventional universities in meeting the educational needs of the populace in the country,聽made possible the idea of establishing only open university in the West Africa sub-region.
Responding, the聽Corps聽Commander,聽Ogidan F.A, Kwara聽State聽Command, while welcoming them to the command, expressed his joy over the visit, and brought officers and men under his command聽for the breifing by the visiting director and her team.
Ogidan encouraged the officers to key-in聽to the university for the educational opportunities that are available聽at the university.
He cited the example of an officer who,聽after retirement from services of the FRSC, got a better job offer owing to the degree certificate he obtained from NOUN while in the active employment of the FRSC.
Similarly,聽at聽the team Federal Road Safety Corps,聽Zone 8聽Headquarters,聽which superintends over FRSC activities in Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti state,聽the director said the aim of the visit was to create awareness on the existing opportunities聽in meeting their quest for educational advancement.
At the聽Zonal聽Commanding聽Sector,聽Offa聽Road, the NOUN team was聽received by the聽Zonal聽Commanding聽Officer,聽Assistant Corps Marshal Hyginus U. Omeje.
Omeje,聽on his part,聽encouraged the officers to seize the opportunity and enroll into the university to improve themselves academically,聽even as聽he promised to invite the director as one of the resource persons to their upcoming workshop which will involve all officers and men of the command.
At the end of the events,聽there was an interactive sessions where questions were asked and answers given to the satisfactions of the officers.
The series of聽visits聽were fruitful in view of聽the interests shown and the eagerness demonstrated by the officers and men of the sectors.
