
The聽Abeokuta Study Centre聽of the聽水果派 of Nigeria聽(NOUN), has received members of the National Universities Commission聽(NUC)聽for the accreditation of B.Sc聽Physics in the Faculty of Sciences.
The team was led by Prof. Ezenwaka Laz,聽from the聽Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojikwu University, while聽Prof. Kwaha Barnabas聽from聽the University of Jos,聽Prof. Francis Egbohare, an ODL expert聽from the聽University of Ibadan聽were members of the team聽and Mr. Onyemauche Maduka聽served as the聽NUC representative.
Also present were the聽NOUN鈥檚 team consisting of the聽Dean of聽the faculty,聽Prof.聽K. Lawal, the Head of Department (HOD) of聽Physics, Dr. F. Ayedun and聽the Directorate of Academic Planning (DAP)聽representative, Mr. Oyenuga.
Host director Prof. Olusegun Adeleke Oba-Adenuga and his team received the NUC team聽at the centre, after which, he聽presented the welcome address on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters.
“Let me with all profound humility welcome聽you聽to the 水果派 of Nigeria (NOUN), Abeokuta Study Centre, Ogun State, Nigeria, members of the accreditation visit of the National Universities Commission for our Physics programme.
鈥淚t was with gratitude that we received your letter informing us of the visit, and with utmost eagerness did we since then look up to today’s event.
We thank God that the day has come at last and that our distinguished visitors were granted journey mercies to this great聽university,鈥 he said.
The director added that physics as a programme, provides quantitative and analytic skills needed for analysing data and solving problems in the sciences, engineering, and medicine, as well as in economics, finance, management, law, and public policy.
He added聽that聽“Our amiable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Ayinde Peters, who I am representing at this聽study聽centre, is a Professor of Chemistry.聽He knows the importance of the Physics programme聽at this聽university.鈥
According to Oba-Adenuga, the VC had聽assured聽鈥渢he members of this team that we place a high premium on the efficient training of our students in NOUN, and we maintain high standards to drive home this vision.鈥
After the welcome remark, the team proceeded to inspect the聽Physics Laboratory, monitoring and assessing the students on practical work.聽Students’ practical files, materials, and records were also checked.
Additional inspections were also carried out at the students鈥櫬爈ibrary, facilitation hall, examination hall, offices, students’ restrooms,聽 and counselors’ rooms聽were all聽inspected with satisfactory comments.
Shortly after the inspection, the team held a brief meeting with the聽centre聽management, commending the efforts put into the success of the exercise.
