
Abeokuta Study Centre director, Dr. Oba Adeleke Adenuga
The聽Management of Abeokuta Study Centre has organised a聽1-day internal training exercise for its members聽of staff aimed at聽up-scaling聽the enrolment level of students at the centre.
The exercise,聽held on Tuesday,聽September聽27, 2022 at the centre, also focused on聽how to retain the existing students, and the best practices to relate with them.
Discussions聽were聽led by Dr. Olusegun A. Oba-Adenuga,聽the study centre director, who聽facilitated the session聽that dwelt on聽the topic聽鈥淓motional Labour in the聽Workplace.鈥
The聽director聽explained聽how聽emotional聽labour can produce multiple positive consequences for organisations, such as聽constant performance by employees,聽increase revenue generation, and a聽uniform image of聽the organisation –聽NOUN.
Oba-Adenuga聽added that聽staff of the centre must ensure a regular聽students鈥櫬爏atisfaction,聽rather than聽chaos and drama.聽“This should聽be聽restored with a greater focus on strategic actions and results.”
He,聽therefore, urged that the simplest way to achieve the objectives of the training is to treat the customers courteously by smiling while attending to them.
鈥漊se calm words such as聽鈥榩lease,鈥櫬犫業 am sorry,鈥櫬燼nd聽鈥榯hank you,鈥櫬爀ven when students treat us rudely would go a long way to achieve NOUN鈥檚聽mission on advocacy,” he added.

Senior Officers at the centre also took part at the training, the Chief Network Engineer, Mr. Olusina Owolabi, discussed on how to navigate the聽e-ticketing support portal,聽e-learn, and student鈥檚聽portal.
The Assistant Registrar, Mr. Saheed Ajibade facilitated on the聽admission process, course registration, emphasising聽on both examinable and non- examinable courses, and general student鈥檚聽inquiries.
The Deputy Bursar at the centre, Mr. Adebola Adesanya,聽also took his turn and highlighted the payment procedures and other student鈥檚聽account-related issues.
On their parts,聽Mrs. Bukunolami Oyeniyi-Ayeleso and the Mrs.Eunice Afolabi facilitated on counseling procedures and ACTU activities, respectively.
The exercise was very educative and interactive as members of staff present asked questions on the various aspects of the training which the聽director and the聽senior staff answered adequately.
In his closing remarks, the聽director reiterated the importance of training staff at the study centre on the various activities, departments, and their functions, new policies and procedures of the university, saying that聽this will better position members of staff to serve the students satisfactorily.
